Content Management & Web Publishing
GOAL - To provide Bath & North East Somerset Council with the web infrastructure which supports the provision, personalisation and sharing of information, customer interactions and transactional capabilities using content management technologies. The provision of such services must enable all users of the system, both internal and external, access without barriers.
There are a number of internal and external ASP applications which will need to be migrated. Dependant on the technology choice for CMS (Classic ASP or ASP.net) a different approach will need to be taken. The ASP applications generally are concerned with information categorisation and entry and retrieval to MS SQL Server databases.
Large Documents & Committee Agendas and Minutes for Democratic Services
The Council has a legislative requirement to publish some policy documents and committee agenda, reports and minutes.
The standard format for these publications will be HTML wherever possible. The Council requires a solution which enables the authors to take the documents from their native format (Word) and easily publish them, including breaking up the pages. All users will have Office XP.
With the Authoring Connector for Word, the Microsoft Content Management Solution is an ideal entry level solution to enable the publication of documents authored with Microsoft Word as HTML via the Council Website.
