The APA are responsible for producing and publishing advice on policy and policing guidelines during and as a result of national incidents, and therefore play a major role in updating the 43 forces across the UK at some of the countries most critical times.
This information needs to be published onto their website as soon after it is released as possible, however, the APA web authors had no web design skills making it a very difficult task to upload new content onto their site. Not only were the web authors experiencing problems but the APA Infrastructure was managed by an external 3rd party increasing the delays to content or structural changes to their website.
Most of the content on the APA website is for members only due to the sensitivity of the information and access by the general public is restricted. It was imperative to the APA that the new solution was capable of secure authentication to the restricted areas. This authentication needed to be easy to manage because the APA had no internal technical resource and their membership database is managed by an external IT Support Agency.
Adepteq worked with both the 3rd party Infrastructure management organisation and the IT Support Agency to ensure that any technical issues that may have arisen were isolated and did not impact the APA’s web performance or presence.
Adepteq implemented a solution that uses the information from the APA membership database to authenticate users browsing the site, it then grants access to the restricted areas not accessible to non-members.
