Adepteq are pleased to announce they have won the competitive tender to provide Swanswell with an Intranet capability based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0.
Rather than try to specify everything that may be required from the Intranet and then ask a supplier to provide it, Swanswell has decided to allow the Intranet to grow gradually using its own internal capability. To enable this they wanted to work with a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner with experience of delivering Intranets based on WSS. As WSS is available free with Windows Server licencing and SQL Windows Internal database is also free so this initial project will have no software costs involved! Swanswell also had existing Server capacity so for this project there was no Hardware cost.
Adepteq will work with key staff at Swanswell in a workshop environment on the initial set up of the site and ensure knowledge transfer to Swanswell staff to enable them to continue the development.
After this process Adepteq will have provided Swanswell:
- An agreed structure for the Intranet
- Trained Site owners for individual elements of the site
- An understanding of Administration and Permissions
- A populated Home page with Announcements
- Some pre-populated Document libraries
- A Project Room environment and template
- The knowledge and capability to change this if required and to add further content of a silmilar nature to the site
All this will be achieved within a strict timescale at a fixed cost, with the initial configuration of WSS already underway and as development progresses Swanswell will be able to make an educated decision on the value of the benefits from the additional features provided by Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007.
